Subcis Terms of Use

By using Subcis, you agree to these terms. If you don't, please don't use the app.

1. What Subcis is

Subcis ("Subcis", "the app", "we") is a voice app for small Quran memorization circles, operated by Oogle. Voice circles run for up to 30 minutes and connect 5–10 people who can hear each other while following along in the Quran. Subcis is provided as-is, free of charge.

2. Eligibility

You must:

3. Your account

You sign in to Subcis with Quran.com via OAuth 2.0. Your Quran.com username is visible to other participants in any circle you join. You're responsible for any activity that happens under your account. If you lose access to your Quran.com account, you lose access to Subcis until you regain it.

You may set a Subcis display name separate from your Quran.com identity. Other participants see this name in circles. Choose something appropriate — names that are offensive, impersonate others, or violate these terms can result in your circles being ended.

4. Acceptable use

Subcis exists to help people study the Quran together. The following behaviour will result in removal from a circle, blocking, and potentially a ban:

5. Moderation

Inside the circle

The admin (the person who created the circle) can:

Reporting

Any participant can report another via the participant's options menu. Reports are sent to subcis@oogle.tech and include the reported user's Quran.com handle, display name, room code, and your reporter ID.

We act on reports within 24 hours. Outcomes may include a private warning, an "Open Circle" restriction (still allowed in private groups, where a host moderates), or a permanent ban depending on severity and history.

Receiving a warning

The app tracks how many "you've been reported" warnings you've received on this device. Crossing the threshold (currently 3) disables your access to "Open Circle" matchmaking, which is the gender-segregated public pool. You can still join private groups you're invited to.

Anti-spam

We rate-limit how many circles an account can start per hour and require a short cool-down between sessions. If you hit the limit during normal use, just wait a few minutes — these limits exist to prevent abuse, not to inconvenience you.

6. Circle privacy

You're responsible for what you say in a circle. Subcis is a public space — even a 5-person private group is "public" relative to the people in it.

7. Intellectual property

Open-source components used in Subcis are listed in the acknowledgements section of the app and remain under their respective licenses.

8. Disclaimers

Subcis is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee:

Subcis is a community study tool, not a religious authority. We don't vet the recitations, tafsir, or interpretations participants share inside a circle. Use your own judgment and consult qualified scholars for matters of religious ruling.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Oogle's total liability for any claim arising out of your use of Subcis is limited to the amount you paid Subcis — which, for a free app, is zero. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.

10. Termination

You can stop using Subcis at any time by signing out and uninstalling the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms or if we decide to discontinue the service.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect material changes, and significant changes will surface in-app on next launch.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes that can't be resolved by emailing us first will be heard in the courts of Sweden.
